Volkswagen is rolling out new advanced driver-assistance upgrades across its 2027 vehicles — the Atlas family, Golf family, ID. Buzz, and Tiguan — on top of one of the most comprehensive standard safety suites in the mass market.
Driver-initiated lane change
With Travel Assist engaged above 45 mph, flick the turn signal and the system checks for traffic and makes the lane change for you when it’s clear.
Emergency Assist Plus
If the system senses an unresponsive driver, it can alert them, then guide the vehicle to the shoulder, bring it to a stop, unlock the doors, and call for help.
Pedestrian-detecting rear camera
A new Rear View Camera System on the 2027 Atlas, ID. Buzz, and Tiguan can detect people behind the vehicle and automatically brake while backing up.
Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control
Smoother, more confident speed changes for curves, roundabouts, exit ramps, and new speed limits — and on the ID. Buzz, cloud map data helps keep it centered.
