DC Fast Charging
More chargers. More confidence. More road trips.
Volkswagen’s adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) means your VW EV can now tap into Tesla’s dense DC fast-charging network. Combined with existing networks like Electrify America, this gives you significantly more options for long-distance travel, weekend adventures, and everyday flexibility.
Whether you’re crossing mountain passes, heading out on a family road trip, or simply need a quick top-off between errands, the combination of VW engineering and expanded charging access makes owning an electric Volkswagen easier—and more enjoyable—than ever.
Key benefits at a glance
- Access thousands of additional DC fast chargers across North America
- Reduced “charging detours” on long-distance trips
- Greater coverage in rural and highway corridors
- Simple session management and payment via the Tesla app
- Improved peace of mind when planning multi-stop routes
How to use a Tesla Supercharger with your Volkswagen EV
- Get a NACS-to-CCS DC adapter. You can purchase the approved adapter online using the link below or with a certified Volkswagen Dealer.
- Update your vehicle software (if recommended). Certain model year vehicles prior to 2025 may require a software update to support optimal charging behavior at Superchargers. Visit the VW FAQ page for more details.
- Set up the Tesla app. Download the Tesla app, create or sign in to your account, add your Volkswagen EV, and add a payment method. You will be able to search for available chargers. Please note: some Tesla chargers may still not be available for use with your VW.
